The Chequers is a traditional pub-restaurant, with a varied menu and beautiful large garden overlooking the fields of Houghton Conquest.

Located 2 miles north of Ampthill, and 5 miles south of Bedford, it is within easy reach of Kempston, Flitwick, Maulden, Wilstead and surrounding villages.

The large garden area is great for families, with an activity centre for older children, and an enclosed play area for the under 5’s. The patio is heated, for those who still like to be outside even on a chilly day.

Families are important to us, and we have full changing facilities for those with small babies, including spare nappies and wipes for when you run short! Both restrooms also cater to our smaller guests, with sinks at the right height for hand washing before they eat!

The Chequers is open for breakfast, and breakfast meetings can be catered for with wi-fi available.

We have a full range of drinks, with 4 guest cask ales changing weekly such as Greene King IPA and Fullers London Pride. Lagers include Fosters, Kronenbourg and Amstel. We also have a comprehensive wine, spirit and soft drink list.
